Dear Pat & helpful team,

Praise the Lord! It's only been 46 days since we hired your firm to find our daughter's birth mom and now, thanks to your quick detective work, our story has my favorite ending... "and they all lived happily ever after."

My original fantasy was to give my daughter the opportunity of contacting her birth mom on her 21st birthday, coming up on May 18th. We thought it would take at least that long to locate her. Now that she was found, I wasn't able to keep it to myself. We called Danette and thanked her for the privilege of raising her baby, then we called our daughter. When Delaine came to the phone, we started singing "Happy Birthday to you...". After we finished the song she said, "What's going on?" knowing her birthday was still a ways off. Then she remembered what we had told her we wanted to give her for this special day and through hopeful tears she cried, "You found my birth mom!" When we said yes, she was beside herself with joy, then fear set in. Her fantasy had now become a reality and she panicked at the thought of actually being able to talk to the woman she had only dreamed about all these years.

With trembling fingers she dialed the number and was relieved to hear the words she had longed for all her life, "I have thought of you every day since your birth and love you dearly." They laughed and cried together as they discovered the many ways they were alike.

As her adoptive parents, we feel blessed to now have been able to fill the "hole" in our daughter's heart. There's no doubt that we will always be Mom and Dad, but there is room in all of our hearts to include another mom.
